¡¡¡¡Nanputuo Temple is a famous ancient monastery in the South of Fujian Province, which is the primary Way-place for Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva in the west side of the Straits. Our thought of Humanistic Buddhism is to carry forward the spirit of compassion from Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva¡¯s kindness and compassion is the highest tenet for the volunteer¡¯s practice.
¡¡¡¡For the purpose of effectively promoting the thought of Humanistic Buddhism and the spirit of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva¡¯s kindness and compassion, we specially recruit volunteers who wish to follow Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva to serve and benefit all living beings. At the same time, in order to make the volunteers relieve themselves and help others during practice period, we will open a series of training courses, like Buddhist Basis, Volunteer Training etc. We sincerely welcome all the enthusiasts join us, let us enhance confidence, make good affinity with others, explore talent and serve all living beings.
¡¡¡¡Nanputuo Temple recruits the volunteers to the society as follows:
¡¡¡¡1. Healthy, good features, 18-60 years old, male or female, unlimited number and year-round recruitment.
¡¡¡¡2. When the volunteer numbers are enough, we will hold training, including Buddhist etiquette, basic knowledge of Buddhism, Buddhist sound, Buddhist chants and so on.
¡¡¡¡3. Main service objects that the volunteers should performed:
¡¡¡¡To protect and maintain Three Treasures (the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha).
¡¡¡¡Large-scale Dharma assemblies.
¡¡¡¡Great significant Dharma activities.

¡¡¡¡As the disciples of Three Treasures, should follow Buddhas¡¯ steps to reach Buddhism and redeem the living beings. How to achieve? It can eventually come true through the process of hearing, thinking and practice, faith, understanding, action and verification. To be convinced of cause and effect and Dharma¡¯s dogmata, it can gain the happiness away from misery. Read the scriptures and treatises, understand their meaning, keep the precepts hard and persevere with it, it is able to become Buddha.
¡¡¡¡Do you know what the volunteers are? Do not think that the volunteers would only be obligated to do something. Our Buddhist volunteers are not only duty to service all living beings, but also to work and practice in accordance with Buddhist doctrine. The purpose of being a volunteer is as belows:
¡¡¡¡First, fulfill the Buddhist teaching that we learn via volunteer¡¯s work and accumulate the qualification to redeem the living beings as Future Buddha.
¡¡¡¡Second, shield and sustain Buddhism and resident place so as to make the work of Dharma preaching smoothly.
¡¡¡¡Third, make use of knowledge to help others.
¡¡¡¡Fourth, promote the establishment of Ten Good Acts, including not killing, not stealing, not committing adultery, not lying, not speaking harshly, not speaking divisively, not speaking idly, not being greedy, not being angry and not having wrong views.
¡¡¡¡Merits and virtues
¡¡¡¡Giving is blessing and the Three Treasure is field of merit. If we are able to contribute our body, energy and time without attachment to volunteer team for any demand to the utmost, then it is no-self. Do everything to benefit all living beings, speak the soft, praise and thanksgiving words to make the listeners bring joy and wisdom, think the kindness of Three Treasure and all living beings, and think how to benefit them, and then this is the pureness of Body, Mouth and Meaning. With it, it is easy to eliminate Karmic obstacles and keep health.
¡¡¡¡The more the magnanimity has, the more merit has. Always remember team¡¯s needs, be a volunteer for the volunteer team, for the temple, for shielding and sustaining the Buddhism, for preaching the Dharma, for world peace and for all living beings¡¯ happiness. That is do the support and donation on the basis of our body, mouth and meaning. Even without reward, it also could receive limitless merits and virtues.
¡¡¡¡Reserve the wisdom. Learn how to be a volunteer in the temple, it not only increases our own insight and various work abilities, but also let us know the working difference between volunteer team and other social teams. Volunteers¡¯ happy work attitude makes us know how to choose life, how to take care of our mind-set and how to live healthily and joyfully. Sometimes we know we should not complaint or worry when the problems occurred, but we do, because we cannot change the karma-reward lack of experience. If our volunteer merits are huge and experience is adequate, then our mental attitudes will become different while facing to any problems.
¡¡¡¡Buddha is a person who has both complete beneficial practices and wisdom. We try hard to learn from Buddha and practice, and then we are able to accumulate the qualification to redeem the living beings as Future Buddha. Redeeming the living beings also needs the chance, and being a volunteer is to make good affinity with others.
¡¡¡¡Volunteer¡¯s mind (The behavior cannot beyond the mind, all are original from the heart)
¡¡¡¡First, confidence is the mother of benevolence.
¡¡¡¡Second, Bodhicitta is to search for Buddha and reform all living beings.
¡¡¡¡Third, heart of thanksgiving.
¡¡¡¡To appreciate for parents¡¯ love and care.
¡¡¡¡To appreciate indoctrination from the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha. Among more than one billion population, why only we can come to practice Buddhism and even to be as volunteers in the temple? All of these have their own good roots, beneficial practices and karma. Do not deny Buddha¡¯s merits, Dharma assembly¡¯s success and successful work, in fact, it is the merit comes from Buddha. Buddha always aids and shields us quietly with his mercy rather than we success via our endeavor. The Buddha benefits us with the best way, let us enhance our own life and ability to enlighten wisdom through work, but not obsessed with the perfect of the surface of things, which disciplines our heart from the surroundings and the experiences.
¡¡¡¡To appreciate the cultivation of nation, local district and temple.
¡¡¡¡To appreciate for family members¡¯ understanding and support.
¡¡¡¡To appreciate other volunteers¡¯ care and assistance, the leaders¡¯ guidance and lay people¡¯s remind, which allows us to improve work ability and correct defects of character. To appreciate the hard work and the contribution of all living beings. When seeing someone devote himself to others, then praise him; if someone helps me and I take it, then thanks to him. Respect his hard work from a variety of things and feel his toil from all kinds of convenience. To appreciate all the rivals and creditors.
¡¡¡¡To appreciate those who make us steady the accomplishment.
¡¡¡¡Reverence Revere the Three Treasures of Abbot (the Buddha image, the Buddhist scripture and the monks). Master Yinguang teaches us should take everyone as Buddha and regard myself as an unenlightened person, so respect all the living beings as they are future Buddha. Look for people¡¯s advantages with the attitude of pick up gold dust in the sand instead of see their fault with the attitude of pick up bone inside the egg. When people show the good side to us, we should serve as a model to learn, when show the bad side, we should know this is a acting that Buddha teach us should self-examine our same fault. Chatter of people, verbal act is as big as a mountain, and it is immeasurable felony if chatter of monks. When seeing the people are kind, then learn from them, when seeing the people are vicious, then reflect yourself. When meeting anyone in the temple, we must respectfully say ¡°May Buddha preserves us¡± by joining our palms and putting them to the breast before saying other things.
¡¡¡¡I was not born when the Buddha was alive, and was born after the death of Buddha came. Repent so much Karmic obstacles of myself as not to see the Buddha. We should be ashamed of being born in this epoch as unenlightened people because of our deep obstacle and superficial wisdom, ashamed of lack of virtue, ability, return and wisdom. Even the Master Yinguang called himself as Constant Shame Monk, let alone us. The more ashamed, the more modest, like the more mature stalks of rice will bent more, that is the virtuous people will be more humble.
¡¡¡¡The heart of repentance
¡¡¡¡Since our beginningless Kalpa, we do not know how much rascality has been done, how much evil karma has been taken and how much ruination exists. For that, the Buddhist disciples should often have the heart of repentance to repent the rascality has been done and swear would not happen again. Only constant repentance could continuously improve the practice to reach Buddha path. Only live in the new state of feeling of today is right and yesterday is wrong, could become the people who are able to change their temperament, who have new hope and new discovery.
¡¡¡¡Learning is like rowing upstream, not to advance is to drop back. Learning Buddhism and keeping the precepts is not easy, ¡°ten advance, nine fall back¡±. It requires both diligent practice and persistence. Insist in doing the homework every day at home, carefully taking care of work during Buddhist services, which trains our own nature of the mind at work.
